Kate grew up in the farmlands of Southern Minnesota, attending and receiving her first communion, reconciliation, and confirmation at All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland, Minnesota, and later serving in the music program at St. John the Baptist in Minnesota Lake, MN. She and her husband, Chris, were also married at St. John the Baptist Church.
Kate graduated high school in 1999 and moved to Louisville to attend Bellarmine University. She studied vocal music performance and music history, graduating with her music degree in 2003. Kate has served as a cantor for more than 20 years and has sung at many churches in the Kentuckiana area. Kate served as the music teacher at St. Barnabas and St. Stephen Martyr Schools in Louisville before completing her master's degree in education (again from Bellarmine) and becoming a full-time classroom teacher. She taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for 3 years before feeling called to serve in the public schools in Southern Indiana. She also taught music and 5th grade at our parish school.
Kate is blessed to be married to Chris Haulter, who serves as a cantor for JPII Parish. They have four daughters, Leigha, Claire, Meghan, and Amelia, as well as four dogs. Chris and Kate are fans of Broadway musicals and try to travel to NYC at least once a year to attend shows. During the fall and winter, you can find them cheering on their favorite college football team--the Alabama Crimson Tide.
