The Christian Service Committee (CSC) is comprised of 8 - 10 individuals who meet the fourth Wednesday every other month. They look for ways to service both local and global communities. The CSC oversees current service projects and programs as well as develops new programs and service opportunities for the parish.
In order to fund the projects and support the committees, an Outreach Collection is taken up the first Sunday of each month. The CSC designates a charity which will receive 50% of the monthly Outreach Collection. The remaining 50% is split with 25% going to a general fund for special requests and 25% going to our St. Vincent DePaul Society. Organizations which have received funds in the past include Exit 0, Community Kitchen, Haiti, Speed Food Pantry, Campton, Crusade for Children, Billboards for Life, Franciscan Kitchen, our parish youth, SVDP, Habitat for Humanity, St. Elizabeth’s Home and Home of the Innocents.
Special requests are also evaluated by the CSC during their scheduled meetings. The Coalition for the Homeless, sponsorships for The American Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Association, Schoenstatt Father’s of India, FACES (Tevis project) all received financial support. Additionally, funds were given to Speed Church to use to start the Faith Kitchen (a hot lunch program that coincides with the food pantry distribution days) which currently serves about 140 hot meals a month.
